13u West Wins Summer Jam Championship
6/22/14 - 08:33 PM

What a great weekend for the North Tartan 13u West girls.  After a slow start on Friday afteroon in the 1st half against the MN Lakers, a switch was flipped at halftime and the girls can out with energy and dominated the 2nd half.  Led by Claire Swan on both ends of the floor, the girls defeated the Lakers 50-41.  Saturday the girls showed up ready to play. Two great wins over two quality opponents showcased the girls talents on both ends of the floor.  Sharp shooters Julia Bjurman, Claire Swan, Whitney Dold, and Meghan Dubois couldn't miss.  Tremendous defensive pressure by Swan, Megan Munneke, and Annika Rosa on the perimeter and Lauren Richmond, Madi Kerzman, and Autumn Mlinar in the middle  gave opponents fits.  Wins over Iowa Eclipse and West Central Wildcats got the girls heading to the championship for the 2nd tournament in a row.  This time they would not be denied.  Sunday brought on the toughest opponent yet, the Husker Elite White team.  They had beat everyone they faced so far by a big margin and were averaging 70+ points a game.  It did not look good early for NT.  After falling behind 20-6, they battled back and went into halftime down 7.  The 2nd half proved to be a different story.  The outside shots started to fall for Bjurman and Dold, and Baily Becker took over on the offensive end inside.   Dold's 3 with 40 seconds left put NT up 4 and they didn't look back.  Great weekend girls!

Great Showing at State Qualifier for NT 13u West
5/4/14 - 04:04 PM

MN State Qualifier

What a weekend at Jefferson High School for North Tartan 13u West!  A great opening win against a talented MN Metro Stars team.  NT was led by Autumn Mlinar's 8 points and great team pressure defense early.  The 2nd game was one to remember against the top 43 hoops team.  NT came out and took control early and held off a late surge by 43 Hoops.  NT was led by Julia Bjurman's 9 points. Sunday's games proved to be a little tougher for the girls.  NC Heat's pressure was tough to handle.  NT got going a little too late.  With the ball in their hands and :08 seconds on the clock, they had their chance to win and got the shot they wanted.  Unfortunately, it didn't fall.  NC Heat wins 38-37.  Claire Swan led NT with 9 points.  In the final game of the weekend, NT faced the top NT 13u team in the battle for the #1 seed.  The top NT 13u team proved too much to handle and ran away with the game late 51-27.  NT 13u West was led by Lauryn Moline's 7 points. All and all it was a great weekend and we walk away with the #2 seed at this month's state tournament and a lot of lessons learned along with so much to build on.  Let's continue to work hard and improve.  Never be satisfied and always keep pushing!!  Great weekend girls!

First Weekend in the Books!
4/29/14 - 09:53 AM

Battle on the Hardwood 2014

Great showing by the NT 13u West Team this last weekend in Eagan.  We finished 3rd in the top bracket in the Battle on the Hardwood Tournament. It was a great way to start the season.  Smothering pressure defense was a common theme in all of the games.  It was a great first step.  Step #2 comes this weekend a the State Qualifier and the competition will be amped up! Looking forward to what should be 4 challenging games against quality opponents!

Great work ladies!
