Welcome to the official site for the 2014 North Tartan Meltdown. North Tartan will be hosting this 4 day event at Eden Prairie Senior High, Hopkins Senior High - Lindbergh Center and St. Louis Park Senior High - from Wednesday, July 23 2014 through Saturday, July 26 2014.
The 2014 North Tartan Meltdown brings together many of the nation's top Club, Travel & AAU programs to compete on a highly visible stage.

In 2011, the Meltdown was ranked as one of the top 20 tournaments in the nation by ESPN & Peach State Basketball. Air conditioning is in full swing with every game being played in an air conditioned facility.

Basketball Tournament Rules and Regulations
Please NOTE: Platinum Brackets (Red, White, Blue) and Green and Yellow Brackets will play July 23 - 25. All other brackets will play July 24 - 26.
Players disqualified at 6 fouls. Bonus free-throws at 10 team fouls with NO DOUBLE BONUS!!!
The Meltdown will be played under the 2013-2014 NFHS rules, except for the following changes:
1. All personnel sitting on the bench must have COACHES WRISTBAND! No exceptions. Each team will receive coaches
wristbands for those personnel that are NCAA certified. Wristbands must be worn while at the event. If you lose your
wristband, replacement wristbands are $20 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
2. Length of game will be 16 minute halves. Halftime will be 3 minutes in length.
** All games will be stop time. If a game has a 20 point or greater margin with 8 minutes left in the
game, the clock will go running time. If the margin becomes less than 20 points stop time will resume.
3. Time outs: Each team shall receive three (3) full timeouts per game.
4. Free-throws: Players may move on RELEASE of the ball during free-throw attempts.
5. Overtime: 1 minute will be given between the end of regulation and the start of the first
overtime period. Each overtime period will be 2 minutes stop time. Each team will also be awarded 1 timeout per overtime,
(TIMEOUTS WILL NOT CARRY OVER).
6. Home/Away: The home team is listed FIRST in pool play (top of bracket) and will wear LIGHT uniforms. The visiting
team is listed SECOND in pool play (bottom of bracket) and will wear DARK uniforms.
7. Forfeit Rule: Game time is game time. Please show up 30 minutes before your game time. (Please be prepared for Bloomington traffic, 494, Hwy 100 and Hwy 169 are all busy during the week.)
8. Warm up: A minimum of 5 minutes will be given for pre-game warm up. GAMES WILL NOT START EARLY.

10. Host Responsibilities: Any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the facility or host staff should be directed to the site director. Rob Ebner (EP 1 – 9) or Andy Jacobson (HOP 1 – 7).
There will be a trainer on site in the event of major injuries. Basic first aid and care of athletes will be taken care
of. Ankle/wrist/knee taping will be available PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TAPE, (tape will also be sold at the concessions stands).

All individuals who engage in coaching activities at NCAA certified events must be approved through the NCAA Participant Approval Program administered by First Advantage prior to participation. Event operators are instructed to require coaches to show a State or US Government issued picture ID during their event check-in procedures to ensure that only approved coaches are granted the ability to participate.

Previously when completing the First Advantage application, a randomly selected 10 question quiz served as the educational component. That test has been replaced by a more significant educational component on a separate website - The NCAA Eligibility Center Coaching Education Course; a FREE course developed by the NCAA Eligibility Center and the National Federation of State High School Associations. Click the link below followed by “Please Login to Order”, then click “Register Now” to create your account. After you register, click “Order Now” to begin taking the free course.
Rules Education for Coaches of Prospective Student-Athletes
A coach or team administrator will need to register their team in the NCAA Basketball Certification System(BBCS). The entire team needs to be entered along with the coaches and their approval numbers. Once the team information has been entered, the team will need to “opt in” to the event(s) in which they would like to participate. This can be completed by clicking “edit team events” on the team page in the BBCS. We will have every approved event posted and the coach/team administration will need to put a check mark next to the event and click the save button.
