Jessie Stomski #41
BioJessie Stomski came to Wisconsin after coach Jane Albright won a spirited recruiting battle with a number of national powers. Sometimes highly rated players seem overrated once they get to college. In retrospect, Stomski was underrated. A powerfully built southpaw, Jessie was a prototypical power forward. She had a soft shooting touch and some of the best hands ever seen. As she matured, her work ethic became better and better. By the time she was a senior, she was rarely outworked--on the court or off. She was a player who was both able and willing to put the team on her strong back. Statistically, she ranks near the top of the lists in many categories. In my never-ever humble opinion, she stands as the best player to ever a wear a basketball uniform for Wisconsin Honors: 2002: First Team All Big 10, Coaches and Media; Academic All Big 10; Co-MVP of Wisconsin, 2001: District IV First Team All American, Honorable Mention All American; First Team All Big 10, Coaches and Media; Academic All Big 10; MVP of Wisconsin 2000: Second Team All Big 10, Coaches; Honorable Mention All Big 10, Media 1999: Big 10 Freshman of the Year, Coaches and Media; Second Team All Big 10 Media; Honorable Mention All Big 10 Coaches |
