NORTH TARTAN NIKE ELITE 2014 STATE CHAMPIONS
5/26/14 - 05:58 PM

North Tartan Nike Elite put together three strong games to claim the 2014 state tournament. The team demonstrated stingy defense in all three games by allowing only 22, 24, and 32 points in their three games.  The players committed to playing offensively in attack mode.  Offensively North Tartan Nike Elite ran hard in transition to create many scoring opportunities at the basket. When forced to play 5-on-5 in the half court Nike Elite executed well to get high quality shots throughout the tournament.  The championship game as an all-North Tartan as Nike Elite faced North Tartan 16U.  Congratulations to Viria, TT, Monica, Sam, Hannah, Caroline, Hannah, Arike, Alex, Courtney, and Madi on winning another state championship in a North Tartan uniform!

SUCCESS AT BOO WILLIAMS
4/29/14 - 06:59 PM

The North Tartan Nike Elite team went 5-0 at Boo Williams (Hampton, VA) over the April 25-27 weekend.  In game one North Tartan defeated a tough DFW Elite team 47-37 in what proved to be a very physical game.  Despite being outsized in the paint, North Tartan players used a "whatever it takes" mentality to gain an advantage.  North Tartan faced Michigan Crossover in game two and won by a score of 67-39. North Tartan was able to get out and run in transition which created many early and quality shots. Game three brought much of the same in a 66-41 win over Tree of Hope.  North Tartan shot a blistering 10 of 15 behind the three point line to keep Tree of Hope from gaining any ground throughout the game. The opponent for game four was another opponent who was 3-0 at the time, Spiece Gym Rats.  Spiece was a very quick and quality three point shooting team. North Tartan trailed at halftime 39-30, but put together a big run to start the second half to get right back into the game.  Great ball screen defense in the second half helped lead North Tartan to a 57-56 victory.  Game five opponent was an extremenly talented Central Florida Elite squad.  This game was what many people beleive was the highest attended game of the tournament by both college coaches and fans.  The teams traded runs throughout the game only to end regulation in a tie.  In overtime North Tartan's defense proved to be the difference as they outscored Central Florida Elite 15-6 to secure an 83-74 win.

The performance at Boo Williams was a great way to start the Nike EYBL season.
