Craig Geyen Bio

Coach Geyen has been involved with girls basketball for the last 8 years and has been coaching for 9 years.  He graduated from SCSU with a degree in Social Studies Education 5-12 with an emphasis in Economics.  He recently finished up his masters degree through St. Mary's University.  He coached for 3 years in Buffalo under Scot Sorenson.  He was the 10th grade coach for a year and the 9th grade coach for 2 years.  His last year at Buffalo they made the State Tournament in 2009.  He then went to Monticello as an assistant coach for 2 years under Lance Dalbey.  In 2011 he took over as the head coach at Monticello.  In the first year they made the State Tournamnet for the first time in program history.  The second year the team returned to the State Tournament and took 4th place.  They finished with a school record of 25 wins and the highest finish in program history.  This past year the Magic completed the 3 peat and went back to the State Tournament. Coach Geyen's overall record is 64 - 27.  Coach Geyen was named Head Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2014 for Section 5AAA and 2011 Assistant Coach of the year for Section 5AAA.  He was born and raised in Monticello.  He enjoys coaching basketball along with football, baseball, and golf.  He enjoys teaching the game and watching players develop skills through basketball, not only basketball skills but life long skills they will be able to take with them through their journey in life.
